WHO ARE WE

Bonita - director

Background

Bonita grew up in Guernsey, a small and peaceful island in the English Channel.

Ten years ago, she founded a tipi hire company after recognising a gap in the local outdoor events industry, quickly becoming known as “the tipi lady.” Her love of the outdoors and nature, combined with her creativity, led to the development of a successful and well-regarded business.


Now rebranded, the company continues to grow and evolve. Bonita remains hands-on from start to finish, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered.

Over the past decade, she has been involved in more than 200 weddings and 100 events. Bonita specialises in outdoor events and is passionate about creating bespoke designs inspired by the natural world.

Hear from Bonita

In my free time, I enjoy long walks with my husband and our dog, as well as birdwatching, gardening, and travelling. I have a passion for art and photography, and I love anything connected to wildlife, nature, and exploring new places. I also enjoy staying active through sport, and currently play both basketball and netball.


Over the years, I’ve learned that events are never truly perfect—they unfold in real time, with real people. What sets a great team apart is how those imperfections are handled.


It takes an exceptional team to deliver a successful event, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such a talented group who consistently go above and beyond to create something beautiful. I actively seek feedback and carefully review every event so that we can continue to grow and improve.

My vision is ambitious, and as a result, my business is constantly evolving. I have exciting plans for the future and look forward to what’s ahead.

Sara - Event MANAGER & WEDDING PLANNER

Background

Sara began working with us on a casual basis in 2024, and her leadership skills, attention to detail, and commitment to customer care were immediately clear—we knew we had to bring her onto the team permanently.


Sara is an all-round, hardworking “superwoman” who takes on every challenge with energy and enthusiasm. She has a keen eye for detail and a talent for creating beautiful stationery and bespoke pieces. Whether it’s an intimate baby shower, a private party, or a large-scale wedding, Sara brings each event together seamlessly.


As an Event Manager, Sara works closely with our trusted network of suppliers and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every detail is delivered exactly as envisioned. She is dedicated from start to finish, making sure nothing is overlooked.

In her personal time, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children

 

John - head of warrhouse & logistics

Background

John is not only our Warehouse Manager—he’s also Bonita’s dad.

He’s been part of the business since day one in 2015, back when he was still working full-time at the Ambulance Station and helping set up tipis in the evenings and at weekends. After a 20-year career as a paramedic (and earlier years as a grower during Guernsey’s farming days), John retired from St John Ambulance in 2019 and joined the team full-time.

Since then, he’s become a key figure in our tent and event setups. His expertise in rigging, combined with a keen understanding of weather conditions, makes him invaluable—especially given Guernsey’s unpredictable climate.


John is a natural leader and a favourite among both our seasonal team and suppliers. Around the warehouse, he’s affectionately known as the “warehouse elf,” thanks to his knack for keeping everything perfectly organised.

On-site, he’s always on the move—whether it’s cleaning chairs with his homemade mix, tightening straps, adjusting poles, hammering stakes, or driving the big vehicles.


Family is at the heart of everything John does. With four children and eight grandchildren, his spare time is happily filled. He also enjoys gardening, fishing, watching sports, and, true to form, keeping a close eye on the ever-changing weather

event set up team

We have a large team of part-time and seasonal staff who play a vital role in everything we do. They vary in age and experience, but all are hardworking and dedicated to creating beautiful events.

Each team member brings their own unique skills, and together they form a practical, creative, and highly supportive team.


Some of our long-standing crew include Patrick, Chris, Zac, Connor, and Flynn. Many of our summer staff join us from the age of 14 and stay with us throughout their school years—and often even through university, if we’re lucky. We love watching them grow over time and go on to choose career paths where they can use the skills they’ve developed with us.


We also work with SPERRY partners around the world, aligning with opposite seasons to give our team the opportunity to travel and work abroad.
